Diplomat Bakery - Richmond

Definitely not baked day of. Bakery items are stale. I should have known as I was waiting outside at 9:25 for them to open at 9:30 and there were 2 cinnamon buns and less than 6 muffins behind the glass. What bakery starts the day with 2 cinnamon buns? Muffin went in the garbage.

I normally get the hazelnut cake for my birthday, it never disappoints and is one of my favourite cakes ?

This is definitely one of my favorite cake places and I only come here when I want to satisfy my sweet tooth. Their cakes are sweet like my grandma, but not disgustingly sweet. I can feel my blood sugar raise as soon as I enter their doors. I like their chocolate cakes since their flavours are as rich as Elon Musk. Today, I got their tiramisu cake as my father's birthday cake. To my surprise, they were actually able to write Chinese characters for me. I was very, very happy. Their tiramisu is quite sweet, compared to other ones I have tried. But those lady fingers... they were moist *wink*. I noticed only a slight hint of espresso, unlike other ones where they have so much espresso powder, you feel like you are snorting it every bite. If you don't like sweet cakes, then this place is not for you. I have only been here 4 times since they opened and they never disappoint. I wish I could come by more often, but my doctor might start injecting me with diabetic medication.

This place looks great. I have been twice now. The cakes are ok. Service is terse and non-friendly.

Delicious desserts. Pricy but good quality so you get what you pay for. Good selection of cakes and you can mix and match slices if you want to sample many of them or bring a variety to a party.
