She didn't even make eye contact when taking the money and didn't say anything after the transaction. This was the most disrespectful experience I have ever had at a bakery.
Haare in birthday cake, I sent the email to customer service. no answer. I will not buy from them.
Miss or the Asian bakery. sometimes I love her and sometimes not. you need geduld to wait in the line, many people try to cut you!
I appreciate that this restaurant is located right at the entrance. The bakery is always on point. It can get busy at times, so it would be helpful to have two cashiers available during peak hours.
Well, what can I say? I’ve quickly become a fan of Saint Germain Bakery. After being ignorant of their existence for 35 years, I’ve finally been “awoken.” And it’s a glorious feeling. First, they played an important role in our small nuptials ceremony (provided the tasty and beautiful cake); second, they’ve opened our eyes to savory and moderately sweet treat possibilities not available in other shops. In short, what’s not to like? About a week or so after patronizing the Metrotown and Aberdeen locations, I found myself in Richmond Centre mall. In reviewing the mall directory, I was actually kind of surprised to see that there’s a unit of Saint Germain here. I say “kind of surprised” because, when I was here a week ago with my partner, I didn’t spy it anywhere over the course of our shopping excursion. After ambling about the mall for a short while, I found out why: This Saint Germain Bakery is tucked away beside a Purdy’s Chocolate shop and its signage, in contrast to both Metrotown and Aberdeen, wasn’t illuminated, making it a little harder to spot if you’re not paying attention (not as bright). Nevertheless, it still featured the unique – and tasty – array of Asian-based treats I’ve come to expect. During this visit, I procured a number of items: A slice of Rose Cake, Triple Cheese Toast, and a Wiener Bun for immediate consumption. I also got a slice of Tiramisu, Black Forest Cake and Mango Passion Mousse to take home. Wiener Bun: Okay, I confess to getting this item for fun. When I first saw it, I couldn’t help but think back to the sad “hot dog bun” I’d ordered at Hudson News – Euro Café in YVR a couple years ago. The wiener was wrinkled and looked as though it had been sitting for a day or two; its accompanying pastry jacket was stale and dry, and thus likely confirmed my observation about the wiener. Would the Saint Germain Wiener Bun be of the same quality? Quite frankly, I’d be shocked if it was. On the contrary, the Saint Germain version was light-years better in terms of quality. The wiener looked – and tasted – fresh. Its pastry jacket, likewise, was soft and flavourful; in fact, it had a light sweet note to it. My only criticism is that the wiener to bun ratio was a little off. Triple Cheese Toast: I decided to get this item after reading a couple reviews that absolutely raved about it. I was a little suspect at first because when I think of “toast” I think of something crispy and slightly dry, but I knew this wasn’t going to be. However, after just one bite, any doubts I had were quickly cast aside. I loved how well the cheese complemented the slightly sweet bread slices. In the end, this item proved to be a wonderful and unexpected gestalt! Slice of Rose Cake: I got a slice of this cake just to re-live a small part of our nuptials. As was expected, this cake – with its mascarpone cream, white chocolate crispy wafer, light almond, and raspberry glazing – was heavenly to bite into. Indeed, I really appreciate how the majority of the dessert items at Saint Germain aren’t overly sweet, no doubt influenced by their Asian roots. Black Forest Cake, Tiramisu and Mango Passion Mousse: I’m lumping these 3 together because I took them home and basically shared them with the family. I think, of the three pieces, the Mango Passion Mousse proved to be the family favourite. It was described as “melt-in-your-mouth good” and we all appreciated the subtle sweetness of the mango and airy texture of the mousse. Beautiful! It caused us to all look at each other with excitement Of course, that’s not to downplay the Black Forrest Cake and Tiramisu – they were just as good and highlighted how and why Saint Germain has won so many culinary awards over the years. Well done! FOOD: 5/5 SERVICE: 5/5 VALUE: 5/5 RECOMMENDATION: Saint Germain Bakery for the win? Absolutely! In the last couple of weeks, I’ve attended 3 different branches and they’ve all been consistent in their selection (availability), execution of product, taste, and service (which was more personable at this location, hence the higher rating). Thus far, we’ve yet to
