Alewife - Richmond

The menu is quite brief, featuring similar dishes, but the preparation varies with each visit. I absolutely love the Blue Point oysters—fresh and bursting with flavor. The service is outstanding; I've never had a complaint. I keep coming back for more. It's my favorite spot in Richmond! Update: still my favorite!

This was the best dish I've ever tasted. I had duck breast with arctic char, and it was absolutely incredible. We also tried oysters topped with some kind of apple. Not only were they delicious, but they were also beautifully presented and felt quite unique—who would have thought apple on oysters would work so well? I really appreciate that the atmosphere wasn't pretentious or overly fancy. It truly exemplifies how value comes from the food and service, rather than just the presentation. Overall, this is a must-visit spot in Richmond. I've only been there once, but I can't imagine it not being fantastic!

I visited Alewife just before New Year's with a few friends, and I was truly impressed. The atmosphere was lively, with a mix of casual and dressed-up attire among the patrons. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The cocktails and food were simply outstanding—every dish was packed with flavor and offered a unique twist. It was absolutely delicious! The place tends to get quite crowded and isn’t very large, so I highly recommend making a reservation. I can't wait to return!

The food is absolutely phenomenal. I had the oysters (both kinds, but the ones with clementine and buttermilk were to die for), the ceviche (again, divine), and the scallops with eggplant. Everything was expertly prepared and the service was wonderful. The cocktails were also very good.

My favorite time to dine at this tier of restaurants is lunch or brunch, when prices are lower and the portions are usually more reasonable and Alewife makes a mean brunch! Our entrees were ridiculously good, and my **** Mary was STRONG. The only thing that left me a little underwhelmed was the dessert, but everything else made up for it.
