Vegetarian food review <br/ <br/ If you are in rishikesh, you gotta try the oldest restraunt located near laxman jhula. One unique thing about the place is a person who is dressed like a pandit with a choti as the name suggests and greets people entering the place for a nice meal.<br/ <br/ We were actually full when we went to chotiwalabut also wanted to try out something so we ordered pav bhaji, veg biryani and butter milk for dinner. The food was overall good, being from Hyderabad I have all rights to judge the biryani but to my surprise it was good though it is made with pulao like flavours, the whole dish still came out well with the spices properly managed. The pav bhaji was delicious and the bhaji was good and with the onion slices it was amazing. The butter milk were good too.<br/ <br/ The service is good, the place has ground floor with local restraunt sitting while the upper floor is AC restraunt with proper dining experience. The crowd was so so. There are 2 choti Wala adjacent to each other, make sure you go to the oldest one. The price is economical and fits in the pocket.<br/ <br/ Overall my first time in rishikesh was full of good feels and good food. Try this place once for sure.<br/ <br/ Happy Binging
Ambiance- The ambiance is very basic with plenty of space for larger groups and an upstairs AC room. It's not exceptionally beautiful, but the star attraction is the Chotiwala who sits outside to attract customers. People always take photos of him, whether they eat here or not. I would rate the ambiance 3/5, but add +2 for the Chotiwala outside. 5/5 Service- The service is quite quick, with everything being served within minutes. The polite waiters and bill takers in their signature uniforms add to the charm of the place. 4.5/5 Food- More than the delicious taste, the nostalgia associated with this place is what stands out. We tried the following: Mini meal- They offer a variety of combos for mini meals and we chose the Paneer makhani with 2 naans platter. The naans were delicious with sesame seeds on top, which is different from other places. The Paneer makhani was good, but there could have been more paneer pieces. Overall, a good combo that can be enjoyed by one hungry person or two who are not as hungry. 4/5 Hot Chocolate- I did not enjoy this. It looked like hot chocolate but tasted strange. 2/5 Masala Tea- This was good, but the spices were a bit overpowering. It felt heavy on the stomach. 3/5 Will I come here again? Yes, every time I visit Rishikesh.
I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a child. The menu is simple and typically attracts families. We ordered Dal Makhni, Chilli Paneer, Noodles, and Roti. Everything tasted delicious. Overall, I had a great experience.
We ordered food from the very famous chotiwala and the food was really good. We ordered paneer paratha, noodles and dal makhni. We were surprised by the quantity of dal makhni. It was very tasty and worth it.
