Írjon visszajelzéstOne a recent road trip my friend and I stopped overnight here. It’s a pleasant town with a number of historic buildings which are being utilised eg. The old bank now houses a business of homemade jams & relishes. There is an interesting collection in the antique shop, worth a browse. The bakery has a large selection of the old fashioned pies, pasties , sausage rolls and breads. There are several cafes. (individual reviews) Worth a stop and a wander. We chose Willow Park to overnight. This extensive grassy area, scattered with willow tress on the banks of the Latrobe River can accommodate a large number of vehicles and caravans. The area is quite pleasant though rather open and can be windy. There is a walking track to the town centre of approximately one kilometre. Fire places are provided and although it is roofed it is not sheltered from any wind. Also supplied are rubbish bins. Advertised through the campervan and rv network as having toilets, they are infact, two portaloos. The day we were there, less than an hour after arrival a truck came by and removed them, but were not replaced. How curious! And how inconvenient!Since arriving at ‘home base’ I have made enquiries and discovered the Rest Area caretakers were unaware of their removal or subsequent non-replacement.Despite this, Willow Park is a pleasant enough area.
Close to the car park and ideal stop for a quick break and a snack. Food is simple but well presented. Seating area is surrounded by a range of reproduction antiques and wall decorations of all types. Well worth a look in.
Good pub meals, very generous helpings. Bar meals are just as good as the dining room with only a smaller range. Reasonable prices especially in the bar,
Dont be tempted to go to this cafe nearest to the carpark. The coffee which we bought to take away was absolutely horrible. It tasted like watery milk with a slight sniff of coffeePaid enough for it but after two sips had to throw it away.Give them a miss please!
What a nice little town, stopped here on our way back to Melbourne for some coffee and breakfast. Strolled around and felt quite at home.
