Írjon visszajelzést3 stars for taste, but 4 stars for value pig bell over rice $3,75/small! was good, but not great. I'm loaded, but I added some fish sauce to the court when I came home and it was JUST LIKE Vietnamese caramelized pork. Amazing value for $3,75! Def meal size. I didn't come with any cobbled veggies, was a bit cheated, but unfortunately. Popcorn Chicken $5.45ishSizeable quantity for two people, quite standard. It did not come like medium spices as desired, and had no basil leaves... they give you Cayenne pepper on the side to add the wish to your heart. I'd come back to have food for the week if I don't feel like cooking. They also had a lot of frozen food available, which is always practical. Intestinal soup and quite varied menu for less than $12, which is somehow hard to find in these days. You take the card when you spend a certain amount:
Affordable Taiwanese beef noodles. One of the few places that actually keep the price low. Quality is not bad
Today was an exciting day I found comparable braised pork rice to Taiwan! A place I can take my parents I don't have to give caveats to (I noticed when I was there she has bawan for sale also, can't wait to try). It was only $9.50 and will easily be two meals for me, plus the best tangy pickled mustard greens I may have ever had in my life. The salt and pepper squid was so good and night market perfect. I'm not usually in the area but will make the effort for sure.
This hole in the wall is run by this auntie. She runs the front, she runs the back, and she makes sure your food comes to you fast and delicious. She talks a lot, and in a good way. This business reminded me of the street food I used to get in the motherland in Taiwan. She talks loud and welcomes you, but to find her you'll have to wait because she is all over the place. But once you're lucky to get her, you make sure she gets your order. The menu here reminds me of some child friendly restaurant. The menu is taped down, colorful, and is in both English and Chinese. It has check boxes, which is counter-intuitive because there are no markers around and again, the menu is taped down. The sight into the kitchen is covered by boxes of what looks like coffee they sell. That is the same way she can only see if someone is in the front. So when I got the food to-go, I waited. After I ordered I waited. But waiting is part of the covid process nowadays. Restaurants are short staffed and I wouldn't want any hold in the wall to be out of business. Hence, I support a NEW local at least once a week. But when you look at the prices, you can see it's budget friendly. Almost starving college friendly, if you ask me. Drinks around $3 and food less than $10? Are you kidding me? I live 30 minutes away and I'm definitely coming back soon! I bought some of my childhood favorites. Braised pork with rice (comes with 2 sides) , crispy pork chop with rice (also comes with 2 sides), popcorn chicken a la cart, and salt and pepper squid a la cart. First of all, you probably think all I eat is fried food from the choices above. You're kind of right, because I hate frying food inside my house. I'd be more than happy to pay someone to fry my food. Their seasoning for the fried food all tastes the same. So next time, I'd probably skip the salt and pepper squid because it almost tastes like popcorn chicken. Has a hint of 5 spice and a bit of heat and sweetness. It tastes exactly like what I used to eat at the night market in Taiwan. It is f*ckin delicious. The braised pork with rice has tons of sauce poured over it. I always hate it when I buy this dish and it comes out dry. Well, it's not and it's delicious. The crispy pork chop is also the five spice blend. All of their fried items has this rich, deep garlicky marinade. I cannot tell you how good everything was. Oh, and the wait was less than 10 minutes from the time I ordered. It was fast when I got home, everything was still hot. Their side pickled greens is probably one of the best I've had.
This place has very good price for the quality of comfort food you get. There are some seasonal items that hit the right spot. I recommend the sesame oil chicken soup with thin noodle for a cold winter night or a chilled noodle with peanut sauce for hot summer days. The cooking is authentic that brought back warm memories.
