Draft Republic - S San Diego

The daily special beer is only $4, great value! It closes at 10pm, which is quite early for those who are looking for a good place for alcohol on friday night...

Great drink and food deals, even on the weekend. Glad we gave the place a chance and we'll definitely be back for Sunday sausage special!

Showed up at 7Pm for dinner and a beer, the Host said ALL the open, empty tables were taken (reserved for later), but the seating in the bar area was open. The host seemed confused, and unable to show us a table available. We went to the bar area, and found an unbused table, and sat down. Waited 10-15 minutes before a busboy came by and half cleared the table. A waitress came by, took our drink order, and left the dirty dishes in front of us. A little later (no drinks yet) a manager named Amanda came by and said the table we were seated at was reserved. She was not polite, and pretty much told us to F off. There were many empty tables, (3-4) in this area, and she said they were all taken for reservations. We left, went to Carl Strauss, were promptly seated, and had a great meal, great service, and (as usual) should have gone here first. We have been going to Draft Republic a long time, but it is clear it is NOT what it used to be. Do yourself a favor, go to somewhere that treats it 's paying customers better. Too bad, it should have stayed the Strip club!

Fun decor, pretty busy and youngish 20-30ish crowd, packed the place. Interesting food options that weren't all that well executed, we had an exceptionally distracted server (10 minutes to take our order and more than that to get the check). We tried a number of food items and they ranged from great (sausage plate was tasty) to misses (ribs were tender, but flavorless other than the bbq sauce, and the jalepeno cornbread didn't seem to mesh well with the syrup), and the tuna starter (all you could taste was quacamole). Overall a little disappointing from a food perspective, I've been to a few Cohen group restaurants and this was a bit of a let down, clearly the large selection of beers on tap are the focus.

I showed up after everyone had ordered I was sitting there for about 15 minutes before I was even acknowledged. The server was rude when I asked for a drink menu. My friend had placed her phone on top of it so I didn't see it. She had ordered some food prior to me getting there for us, he said he would be back he was gone for another 20 minutes before I got my drink order in. When I had finally got my beer and drank it we were sitting around for maybe another 30 minutes before we were ready to go. It wasn't until a friend stood up to go get our tab that we were able to leave. We asked about our food the server had never put our order in. It was a terrible experience.
