La Boustifaille - Saint-Jean-Port-Joli

Since our last visit to La Boustifaille where we saw (and regretted not ordering) plates of Crêpe de Chez Nous go by, we promised ourselves to come back and try this particular dish. We were truly thrilled by the crispy outside and the chewy inside of this doughy plate-sized dish; a specialty of the restaurant. Indeed, we have never seen or tasted anything like it. It was served with maple syrup. Delicious!

After returning from Nova Scotia, we decided to avoid the hectic traffic in Montreal and take Highway 30 instead. Our Airbnb host recommended this place for breakfast, so we stopped by. Despite some previous comments, we were given menus in English and had no issues as English-speaking customers. The service was excellent, with a waitress who spoke very good English and gave us the attention we deserved. We visited not only to admire the barn converted into a restaurant, but also to enjoy a nutritious meal. We all agreed that it was a treat. The oatmeal with fresh fruits and the crepes with custard and fresh fruits were delicious, as were the ham omelets, cretons, meat pies, and sausages. We all wished we had a restaurant serving such delicious food in our own area.

The food was very good and service was good. We stopped for lunch and enjoyed the setting and food very much.. The restaurant has the feeling of yesteryear by design. The place was fairly busy but our server was attentive. It is worth a visit if you are in the neighbourhood and, of course, St Jean Port Joli itself is a nice place to visit.

We had been here in 2001. So, 16 years later we returned. We went for breakfast. The menu was totally in French. This did not matter to us since even though we don't speak French, we can read menus. All the food was excellent. The prices were reasonable. Even though our server did not speak English we found her very friendly. The atmosphere in the place is Canadian French. For breakfast food and cost, you could not do better.

We've been there a long time ago. Back in August 2016 and didn’t feel the same spirit. The food is good. Service is rough. Can’t make a reservation, so have to wait a lot, and finally we had to be splitted in two groups. Not sure to be back
