Le Tournebroche

We had an excellent fish meal here. Service was efficient and pleasant. Good menu and value for money for the touristy area.

There are dozens of restaurants in Saintes Maries so I'd advise trying somewhere else. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy - in fact we were the first to arrive - but the service started off slow and finished positively glacial. Had the food been great, or even just good, I probably wouldn't have minded; it's nice to just sit and watch the world go by, but the food (we went for one of the set menus) was unmemorable and overcooked. The wine was okay, though.

There are literally dozens of restaurants to choose from in Saintes Maries de la Mer, so there is a lot of competition. Le Tournebroche is in a good location, at the top of a small square, and close to the church. Get a seat outside and you can observe the comings and goings at all the other restaurants in the square. The menu offers a good choice of local food, with a wide range of fresh options, particularly seafood. The food is well-cooked and nicely presented. The service is pretty slow - we had to wait a while for our order to be taken, then again between courses. Since the chances are that you will be on holiday, this very likely won't be a problem, but be prepared!
