Írjon visszajelzéstI visited this restaurant for the first time with two family members recently. There aren't a lot of top end restaurants in the area and we were excited to go. My brother in law had been to the Western Door Steakhouse in the Casino in Buffalo and had a great experience. That was not the case here. The service was fine no major issues there. My French onion soup was very good. My brother in law and I both got the 8 oz filet. We were both disappointed. It was cold and it didn't taste like a good cut of meat. My cousin added three shrimp to her filet. She thought the meat was fine, but it was also not warm (as if our dishes had sitting there for a while, waiting to be brought to us). The shrimp were fine as well, she said. The service was fine except that in between ordering our entrees and them being brought out, it took a very long time. Which was surprising given that they didn't look overly busy. All in all, given the price of the food and the lack of quality with it, we were disappointed with this visit.
Had dinner Saturday evening. The service was extremely slow. Took 1/2 hour to get water. When our food came out after an hour the filet was a charred, dried up brick. The asparagus and potato sides were cold. The bone in ribeye was overcooked and a terrible cut of beef. After complaining to the wait staff and manager a second filet came out that looked like it had been chewed up and spit out. They did take the sides off the bill and only charged half for the filet. The bill was still $130. Definitely not worth that. We'd been to this restaurant many times before and had wonderful meals. Not sure what has changed but we will never go there again.
I was surprised to see such a low overall rating because my experience was great! I booked online and was seated immediately when I arrived for my reservation. I found the restaurant to be warm and elegant. My waitress was nice. I had a dining credit that went far here! I ordered the following: Tropical Breeze cocktail Coconut shrimp (came with a delicious pina colada to dip in, and a cocktail sauce that reminded me of salsa) Smoked brisket Mac and cheese (didn't care for this so much but I was full so it's ok) WD resort burger (true to size .. had to eat with fork and knife haha ... cooked as requested) came with fries There was also complimentary bread served .. 3 types and all very good! And came with 3 whipped butters! My favorite was the pink one which was a Hawaiian Punch butter. Sooooo good! This is why I was full by the time my meal came haha! My bill was accurate ... took off my dining credits. No issues whatsoever. I'm going back this weekend and can't wait for my next meal here!
Nothing about the steakhouse, yet, but when I booked my room, I asked about reservations here, said they had none for Saturday night, which I wanted to celebrate my birthday, but availability for Friday, 6:30, I said OK anyway. We went earlier to see if they had any openings, the place was 75% empty on a Friday at 5:30, However, when asking about an earlier seating, I was told they didn 't even have a reservation for me. But said they could accommodate us at 6. Stood around in the foyer, instead of just walking around. Absolutely no one, I mean NO one entered the restaurant while we stood there. Went over to podium at proper time to be seated. Matre D, said you are going to sit by the fireplace...Oh its 90+ degrees outside...So we sit and wait...wait...Waitress come over I ask for iced tea without ice...brings iced tea...WITH ice. OK, here we goooooo, I don 't eat a lot anymore, so I order the coconut shrimp for an entree. Tablemates order steaks.....LOVE it...you need to PAY an extra FOUR BUCKS for steak sauce....at a STEAKHOUSE.....WHAT!!!!...As we are sitting waiting, even though we ARE sitting in front of the fireplace, I am wearing a sweater, I 'm getting cold..air must have been on deep freeze. I 'm getting so cold I take my arms out of the sleeve and pull my sweater tighter. My hands are now two popsicles. So here come my shrimp....Not the coconut shrimp I 'm used to...Just looks like over fried popcorn...I feel the temp...warm...try to cut them hard FAIL...try to pull the tail off....can 't....now I 'm wrestling with a shrimp at the table...forget it....sent them back immediately....I reorder the tacos...Prime Rib..I thought, forgive me, being a high end restaurant, this taco would be a wow moment...forget it. arrived in a cold floppy shell with cold meat. I couldn 't tell if it WAS prime rib or just cheap hamburger. I like Mighty Taco, maybe should have gone there. Nothing here was like WOW, high end. I won 't be back
From the Moment the Manager greeted us to let us know that we were 10 minutes early for our Reservation, to Pedro who was friendly and polite bringing us to our seats and table, and lastly with our Server, Brie , getting us all the way to the To Go Boxes, everyone here earned 5 Stars for this High End Steak House. My wife to be was not a fan of the cinnamon butter, but I enjoyed it immensely. The smoked paprika butter was so good that I will make some. I already love to make chipotle butter: I just a can of chipotle and blend it in to taste with a high quality butter. I got the 20 oz Ribeye while my wife got the 16 oz NY Strip Steak. Mine was perfectly cooked at Medium Rare, while hers was also cooked perfectly at medium well done. The baked potato was so big that we shared it. It was the longest one I have ever seen. Twice the length of the baked potatoes I 've eaten at other fine dining places. They seem to have used that method I just saw on a cooking show where they place the potatoes on a bed of very salt to bake them on a sheet pan in the oven. The potato came with many toppings so that you could top it the way you like, as naked or as loaded as you want it. My wife doesn 't eat sweet desserts, but I do have some on special occasions. The crème brûlée was the best one I 've had in many years and $9 was a very fair price in such a lovely restaurant. Many people overvalue or undervalue their favorite restaurant. I believe that this Western Door Steakhouse is expensive but worth it. Dinner for two, no appetizers, no drinks (we drank water), no salads or soups. One dessert. Out the door at $160 for dinner for two including a generous tip. I 've paid this once or twice after the Covid-19 's pandemic economy destroyed inexpensive food ingredients and left them as much as twice as expensive as pre-March 2020 for an average restaurant. This place is miles above average in my experience and opinion. I hope your experience is as good as mine!
