Excellent! The shrimps and grits were different from those I had. The aromas were complex and simple. My husband's lamb was probably the best he had. I usually don't care about lamb because I think it's playful, this lamb was melted in your mouth with a very clean, rich flavor. We also loved the finished cocktails. I had a red **** that was a very refreshing, not too sweet, strawberry flavor, you can say it wasn't a premix. The staff was so friendly. We will definitely add the Blue Apron to our favorites when we come to Salem.
This evening was lovely. My husband had the mussels and hangar steak with creme brulee. He was less than thrilled with his steak accompaniments but mentioned the mussels and sauce were savory and delicious. He was extremely happy with his creme brulee. For myself, the entire meal was wonderful! The heirloom tomato salad was fresh and well dressed without feeling heavy. The shrimp came with a sauce I can't recall the name of, but was fantastic. The peach and mango sorbet was more mango than peach, and was topped with fresh cherries and blueberries and I absolutely adored it. The whole meal, really fantastic. The entire wait team was amazing. Extraordinarily friendly and attentive; my water glass was kept full and I didn't wait long for either of my cocktails. Portions a but small for the price. Would have loved to see a few more veggies with the shrimp.. My husband says next time he will try a seafood dish. : Overall, highly recommend for a lovely evening.
The food and ambiance here are outstanding for a date night! Reservations are highly recommended well in advance. Service is top notch! I'm from San Diego so I have a feel for good restaurants and this one fits the bill. The problem...I was on a business trip and ate alone. During that time I conversed with the wait staff and asked them what each of their go to dishes are. It was then that I learned that they only get to taste the food and are not fed or offered any discount... Cmon! Take care of your people...it's a very small staff...probably less than 10 employees. Margins on the food are not that much to justify not taking really good care of them. Great spot but really sad for the way employees appear to be treated. Owner...please post if this is not true because your place is solid other than that giant elephant in the room.
The Blue Apron was perfect for our early Valentines dinner. The five course dinner included limited choices, and everything we picked was good. My favorites were the steak tartare and the sea bass. My fiancé loved the tasting course champagne and the meringue with raspberry sorbet and chocolate dessert. The service was excellent, as always.
