Le Relais de l'Ecluse

Still one of the most relaxing locations ever, but what a change from when we last visited three years ago the old yellow umbrellas and an illusion of expense now replaced by a lower drinks area and a super raised deck with a delightful...outlook over the river. AND the very reasonably priced food and service were absolutely first class.

This was a local recommendation, the menu was very varied and the owner took the time to translate each of the dishes, he was very patient. We enjoyed a starter and a mains, the scallops were excellent and my fish stew took some beating, recommended.

After we have seen that our bill was more expensive than the menu prices € 12), we kindly asked if they could check it again. That was just a simple mistake, it quickly became clear that they overloaded us for purpose. At first they pointed out...a randomly written additional cost on the chalkboard menu, but the mathematics does not add. Then they said that the prices on this particular board were wrong, but we saw the same quantities also on other menus. After we continued, the manager recalculated the invoice and reluctantly added the error. It also did not help that the chef, after the waiter, added Bacon to our salads that they were suitable for vegetarians. A cozy terrace on a striking location and a decent quality/price, completely ruined by its dishonest service.

Despite the great location, my experience is as far as I remember one of the worst. We went with my wife and my three children. We ordered Salat Provençale and noix de Saint Jacques as appetizers then fillet de poisson as main course and 3...kid menus that I thought, as not mentioned on the board contain only pasta bolognaise. Starters were below average, the children were served a few minutes before our main course. Speaking of the main course, it was just terrible that the mixture of spices did not fit with boiled vegetables and very dry rice. On arrival we asked what is available for desert, and the waiter said among other things the Tiramisu, who no longer existed at the end and said that it changed. Finally, the waiter was not even interested in offering the desert for the children as part of their menu. When I saw the reception, I realized it was a menu for which we paid and the contained desert. In any case, I would have thought that the price will not be the same as the children do not have the desert. I wasn't afraid my immediate will came out.

That's a great location. Feel like on the canal de midi in the south, but you are only 45m from Paris. Building could do with an update. Warm but tasty and well served. But you were never in a slower service restaurant than this. Server looks busy and never stops running although there are only 5 tables of 2 or 4 per table. the net results are approx. 20min before your table is prepared to arrive 20 for menus and orders and 30 min for food. A real killer. Too bad. This place could be a gold mine. Another disappointment.
