La Fonda Alamo Heights - San Antonio

I come for the enchiladas Verdes, the queso, and the margaritas. It's a fave! Good rice and beans. The crowd is steady at dinner hours. Update, I think they lost their special something. Probably won't go back.

Food was delicious and huge portions! Service was iffy. New waiter? Never got our margaritas. Enchiladas were excellent as was the tamale and chili with huge chunks of tender meat.

Absolutely excellent food at very reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend for an affordable, delicious meal.

Great experience!! I was waiting at the bar for the rest of my party and saw McGuire waiting on tables. He then came behind the bar, greeted me and took my drink order. So, not only was he waiting tables, but he was also the bartender! I thought he was extremely pleasant while also providing excellent service to La Fonda patrons. What stood out to me was his attention to detail. What I mean is, each time he grabbed a glass to make a drink, he brought it close to his face and meticulously inspected it! He took his time and turned each glass a full turn before he used it. This tells me he wanted to make sure the glass was spotless and had no cracks. Regardless, of what McGuire looks for, the attention to detail is admirable and an asset to La Fonda. Customers like me us are the lucky recipients of his high standards!

My favorite Mexican food in town! I've been going to La Fonda for 35 years and I'll go on as long as it's all about the time. Great food, great...
