Los Panchos De Charly Mexican Grill Cantina

We were drawn to this restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter by some positive reviews, but they turned out to be completely unfounded. The ambiance felt like a mix between a sports bar and a rustic cantina, and the food was well below average. How can fresh nachos taste stale? The service was also very poor. While we thankfully didn't experience any food poisoning, our overall rating is a definite 'Nope'.

Coastal Cantina has certainly upgraded since my last visit. I had a great experience over a year ago, but my trip last weekend left me even more impressed. The staff was fun and friendly, the food was incredibly tasty, and it's clear they're using higher quality ingredients. The cocktails were delightful and strong as well! I'll definitely be returning more frequently!

I will never return. The nachos were covered in mayonnaise, which was unappetizing. The beans tasted like frozen refried beans that had been reheated and burnt, leaving a charred flavor. The rice was dry and like little pebbles. The salsa was watery and unpleasant. I strongly recommend that the cook be replaced immediately because this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

Lagged to get order done. when order finnaly arrived, it was the wrong order. I dont mind paying for over priced food but get it right if you going to over price your food

Not sure how this place got an average of four stars from previous visitors… Everything was extremely average at best. Margaritas were overly sweet, definitely from some kind of a mix. The salsa was good, but the chips were old and premade. Main course was kind of tasteless and really average… Given that we are in San Diego, I would’ve expected much much better Mexican.
