Ginger Sushi Poke Shop - San Marcos

Amazing food! Me and my friends new favorite sushi! Red Tiger Roll was amazing! We loved it! Best Sushi ever had and the prices were great. Come back!

TLDR: DO NOT GO HERE. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY FOR SKIMPY FISH PORTIONS. This went from a 3 star rating to a 1 star rating. Three people on staff, three parties in the dining area. Absolutely no hustle behind the counter. I ordered a poke bowl and have been waiting over 30 minutes for them to throw some ingredients in a bowl to-go. Just overheard that they are waiting on the tuna to defrost. Haven 't tasted the food yet, so I don 't know, but that says something about the freshness of the food. Overall my first impression isn 't great. Update: it has now been 40 minutes for ONE to go order. The party ahead of me just got their food. Clearly the staff is not trained to make the dishes because they keep referring to cheat sheets with very unsure looks. The rest of the restaurant is upset for the wait time. I 'm close to asking for a refund. I will not be returning. I have better things to do in an hour, AND on an empty stomach. Really sad because I was looking forward to this place opening. Update: it has officially been an hour. No food yet. They are throwing in chocolate bananas to make up for it. I 'm over this place. Good luck to the staff/management for getting it together. They have been kind to guests, but kindness doesn 't make up for the unpreparedness and the $16 wasted. Update: finally got my food and got home. Cute. They made up for my wait time with a SINGLE slice of fried banana. The amount of fish for a $16 item is a joke. Food tastes fine. But honestly, save your money.

Walked in with a party of 3 at 1 pm and the restaurant barely had any diners. Menu had a lot of options but maybe too many options where it can be detrimental to quality/ timely of the food coming out. There was 2 workers who were friendly and the restaurant was fairly clean. Our food didn't come out till 2:35 pm which is a bit mind boggling. Food was okay, would rather eat heb sushi to save myself the time. Don't recommend trying this place out unless you have 2-3 hours to spare for lunch

I absolutely love the food here! Even though the menu is mostly focused on fish, I can still find plenty of delicious vegetarian options. The veggie poke bowl with sticky rice, paired with the radish roller, is fantastic!

I love it!! I and a group of friends went in and got our food in time. The staff was especially helpful to those of us who never had sushi. It was nice and clean and the chocolate banana bombs were AMAZING. Recommend everyone who loves Sushi or wants to try it for the first time.
