No rocks, barnacles, sea weed, undertow or sharks! Lots of great birds and non bitey fish. Was shocked by how garbage free the beach and water are. The rooms are decently comfortable as were the beds. No kitchen or fridge. The staff are amazingly friendly. Really a great bunch of people. The restaurant was as good as any in town. The town itself is a sleepy little place. We never felt unsafe. Everything you need to buy is available within a few blocks of the hotel.
We have eaten here in years past and were happy with our meals. This years experience was just plainly bad. We have had fresh fish here before surprise dorado). Neither of the waiters could tell us if they had fresh fish or even dorado. Neither of the waiters spoke any English. Yes we can read some Spanish and figure things out but in this case Nada help. I ordered coconut shrimp and my wife ordered shrimp ceviche w jalapeño. Next we ordered Estella Mexican beer. We received open bottles of the Belgium beer Stella. After 40 minutes our food arrived. There were 3 tables with customers. One was with some eating when we arrived. We couldn’t see where the other table was in their process. My shrimp was a hard, brown over cooked crusty. Worst coconut shrimp ever!!! My wives ceviche came and was so covered and overwhelmed with chopped hot jalapeños that it was inedible. Yes it has a nice view. Doesn’t make up for poor service and bad food.
This restaurant has a wonderful location on the beach, and above, in the nicest facility on the beach. But, the food is the same as a dozen other seafood restaurants on the bay, and the service is a serious problem. I live in nearby Barra de Navidad, and have eaten at many of the neighboring restaurants. I have never visited a restaurant in the area that so obviously needed an on-site manager or owner. Save yourself the frustration, and have your fish of the day, at one of the others. The restaurant won't be as pretty, but you'll be more satisfied with the experience.
This is realmente *the* beach spot. In a high palapa with a great view of the bay. Strong margaritas!
Driving outside of La Manzanilla to a remote small hotel on the beach ( only 8 rooms), we had a lovely brunch while watching the continuous surf coming in and out. A private chef prepared excellent French toast, eggs a variety of ways, or you could have lunch choices. Just a nice way to start the day.
