El Mexicano - Sanford

The service was absolutely awful it took over 20 minutes after we were seated for someone to come serve us. Even after that we had to ask other workers for drink refills. Btw the restaurant was empty maybe 5 other parties there. The food was mediocre at best and multiple people in my party received cold food. To top it off everyone in my party of 8 felt sick after eating there, with one of them puking all night. We were all extremely disappointed and will never be back again.

We moved from Texas and heard that this was the place to get the real deal. I didn't expect it given the generic red sign out front and being in a sort of strip-mall place... I was wrong to presume. Its really really good. When I surveyed my born and raised TX wife, she says its not as good as TX but its EXTREMELY close and it's good as it gets. The food was excellent, servers were friendly, I could tell right when I walked in that several of the patrons were frequent flyers and that was a good sign. The waiters conversing amongst themselves in Spanish was also a good sign. The fresh ingredients and great presentation was obviously also a huge plus. A lot of the food on the menu is Tex-Mex but there's a few true MX dishes on there too like your birrias and al pastors, things like that. They have fresh made corn and flour tortillas, a staple down south that's pretty rare up here. Usually you're eating something made by Ortega. Not here! Anyhow we don't live too far away, we'll be back. Don't bother with any other TXMX food in ME if you're close enough to El Mexicano.

We stopped here for lunch on a whim. Service was excellent and attentive and helpful. Place was very clean and the food, was extraordinary! It was a lot and we both brought home leftovers.
