Chip's Sanibel Steakhouse

This place is fantastic. Food is excellent and service even better. Best steak in the area.

Eight of us (four couples) used ;Two Entrees for the Price of One ; coupons from the paper and if this was a promotion to get diners in to impress them, it didn 't work. While the food was excellent, the service was slow and impersonal. We had a seven o 'clock reservation and were seated by 7:05, but didn 't receive our entrees until two hours later. We had to look for the servers every time we needed something because there was no anticipation of our needs the mark of an excellent wait staff. In fact, I would say the term ;wait staff ; was most appropriate for this restaurant we had to wait for everything. At about the one hour and 45 minute point, we asked if our food would be out anytime soon and were astonished when the waitress explained it had taken so long because one of us had asked for a steak cooked medium well! While I 'm not a proponent of overcooking a good piece of meat, I don 't think it takes an extra hour to get from medium to medium rare. So, the bottom line, really good food, ruined by the slow service and high priced a la carte menu.

Four of us visited for Valentine 's Day, and while the service was wonderful (especially on a major holiday) and the atmosphere was inviting, the food was, for lack of a better word, un-spectacular for the EXTREME cost. We had two salads, two appetizers, four dinners, four drinks, and one dessert, and the final tally was over $400.00. That would have been fine if the dinner was outstanding, but it was far from that. There are far better choices in the Sanibel/Ft. Myers area, in my opinion.
