Blackbird - Santa Barbara

The New Year's fixed-price meal at this restaurant was overpriced and not as advertised. The same food was used for multiple courses, and there were long delays in the delivery of the food. The lack of silverware for 15 minutes made the food get cold. It was clear that the restaurant was understaffed. The staff tried to push us to drink more by pouring the entire bottle of wine into our glasses. A 20% tip was automatically added for our party of 4. The chefs did a good job considering the circumstances, but the manager appeared to be inexperienced. Overall, it felt like the restaurant was just trying to take our money.

Our evening at the restaurant was ruined by the terrible service we received. Our server rushed us through our drinks and food, delivering everything at once and with poor timing. The food was barely warm and one dish was undercooked. We were disappointed considering the amount we spent. We had to ask for our plates to be removed and left feeling let down. Despite hearing great things about the restaurant, our experience was far from enjoyable. Eva Alexander Gutierrez.

The bartender was fabulous as were the drinks he poured. Both food and service were also fabulous. But, unfortunately, I left with a very bad taste in my mouth someone came around and let us (and the one other table) know that the restaurant was closing in ten minutes. Not, the kitchen is closing in ten minutes, the restaurant was. While we were nearly done, this is no way to treat your customers, especially at this price point. I do hope there is a little extra care taken in hospitality for future customers so they can relax and enjoy their meal and conversation without undue disruptions.

First time visiting from Napa Valley. Restaurant is decorated ala Hitchcock! Chef de Cuisine Joshua Legrand was personally helpful in our menu selection. Starters of Richotta Gnudi was well matched with the Citrus Salad. The Braised Short Rib for two was perfectly cooked very tender and flavorful. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall a wonderful evening dinner!
