Golden City - Santa Cruz

I did not realize they have new owners. I've been getting food here for years and it was always good. The service was good but the restaurant itself looked like it was in the middle of an unfinished remodel. The food we got was also very bland. Unfortunately their prices skyrocketed under the new ownership and at the new prices I expect food with much more flavor. Too bad.

The food here was really good! We ordered pork fried rice, cream cheese wontons, sweet and sour prawns and lemon chicken! Everything was delicious!! Our waitress was very kind, friendly and always had a smile. The atmosphere was nice, we liked all the windows with the sun shining in. We would definitely come here again. Recommend this place 10/10!!

This was the family go-to for many years. It was fine for Americanized Chinese food and we enjoyed it. I believe they changed ownership because the last and FINAL time we went for takeout there it was HORRIBLE, literally inedible and not at all what we were used to. The worst was the Honey Walnut Prawns which were heavily breaded fried with a drizzle of some strange pink sauce before it was lightly deep fried and tossed with a delicious sauce! . We ate the pot stickers which were burnt but threw the rest away.

No longer Golden City. Their chef was much better. Chow mein was not good.

Food is great, it is well seasoned and not bland. Portions and pricing are good as well. Would highly recommend eating here.
