You can eat your fill and more for about ten dollars, depending on whether it's lunch or dinner. I stopped for dinner. It wasn't my first visit, we had gone to New Dynasty for many years when the children grew up, but stopped a few years ago. I knew in my heart that if I went back now that I would play restaurant reviewers, I must report that the food is not so great, and I didn't want to do that. With Urbanspoon, who came to the end, I knew it was time. The food is not so great. But it is a Chinese buffet and nothing worse than what you would normally find elsewhere. They don't have a huge number of stations, but they have a good choice, I've never been hungry and not again tonight. It has actually brought back some good memories, the place has not changed in decades, except I think it got a new soft site ice dispenser.
I recently visited New Dynasty Chinese Restaurant, and I must say, it was quite an experience. I hadn't eaten the night before, nor did I have breakfast, so I was eagerly anticipating lunch at 11:00 AM. I was trying to decide whether to go to New Dynasty or Mrs. Chen's, which I hadn’t been to in years. Ultimately, I chose New Dynasty, which charged $6.50—just three cents more than Mrs. Chen's. I felt reassured by the friendly person on the phone who didn’t sound very Chinese. When I arrived, I was excited to dive into the buffet. While some people have a sweet tooth, I have 32 sweet teeth, so I was ready for my first plate of food. I was a bit disappointed to find that the dessert area didn’t include the miniature cakes I used to love at Chinese buffets. Instead, there was a standard chocolate cake selection. I took a few of those and loaded my plates with a little bit of everything. I paired my coconut desserts with ice cream to soften them, as they were pretty hard. I did taste a fresher batch later and found them much better. New Dynasty had a wide variety of chicken dishes that caught my attention. The BBQ chicken skewers, chicken wings, baked chicken wrapped in bacon, and General Tso's chicken stood out—especially the wings! I couldn’t get enough of them, and perhaps they knew a wing lover would come by, as there was a fresh batch available. I paired the wings with blue cheese dressing from the salad bar, which was a great complement. Speaking of the salad bar, I also tried the egg salad, which I enjoyed quite a bit, along with a delicious cheese/spindle dish. The soft serve ice cream was fantastic; I broke a sugar-coated Chinese doughnut into pieces and mixed it with the ice cream. Among the different desserts, I found a unique pudding that I thought resembled a poor man's crème brûlée. You could really taste the egg in it, which was unexpected but not bad. I highly recommend checking out New Dynasty. For just $6.50 (Friday lunch price), you certainly get your money's worth. I can’t say yet if it’s better than Mrs. Chen's, but stay tuned for my upcoming review on that!
The soup and takeout dish were average. However, the soup itself was quite good. The food was tasty overall, but the General Tso's Chicken was dry. The dessert cups were quite small, so I felt I could have gotten better value for my money with a larger portion. It would be beneficial for the restaurant to improve their takeout packaging as well. On a positive note, the environment was clean, bright, and inviting.
I happened to drop by on a day to give it a try, and I was excited about the experience. The dishes, soups, and desserts were all well-prepared. Just a note: I’m a vegetarian.
We were on vacation and we were craving some all you can eat! So friendly and clean! Loved it!
