Brasserie Piazza Porta - Sartène

Friday lunch, mid-April. Some customers out on terrace, some (like us) on covered terrace. Not all tables taken but a cheerful authentic bistro atmosphere, though two people in covered section were tolerated while smoking. Service was friendly and attentive. My salad was copious and contained a variety of Corsican ‘goodies’ including fig jam to go with the broschetu (Corsican cheese from sheeps’ milk). Very nice but I could not finish it. Partner had a steak cooked just to her liking. We finished with ‘îles flottantes’ and good coffee. Prices very reasonable, good value. Not ‘haute cuisine’ of course but honest brasserie food. Recommended.

We stopped off in Sartene for lunch and chose this attractive-looking restaurant on the main square on the basis on its varied menu, which included vegetarian dishes. We sat under the parasols in front of the restaurant on a baking-hot day. If you are there in similar conditions, chose a table under the canopied area, where you will periodically be sprayed by a fine mist of water. We would have been there too, if we’d noticed this feature earlier! The service was friendly and efficient and we were soon tucking into rather larger portions than anticipated. The bruschettas (available in four topping combinations, two of which are vegetarian are huge, chunky, absolutely smothered in toppings (what fresh, flavourful tomatoes and excellent olive oil! and delicious. The burgers are equally good, consisting of a very generous home-made patty made of high quality beef. By the end of our visit to Corsica, we had both awarded this restaurant the prize for the best meal of our holiday.

Ideally located by the entrance of the old city. The service is fast and friendly, the plates are big and the food is good but it could be a bit warmer. Pleasant on a warm day but it attracts a lot of flies.

The place is tiny and adorable Food is delicious - I had the breakfast sandwich, which is open face with poached eggsComes with salad.

This was one of the cutest cafes I went to in Paris! The atmosphere was lovely and the cappuccino I had was even better.
