We went for lunch after our kayaking trip. The restaurant was busy and my food took a while to be prepared. Many people who ordered after me received their food before I did, making it difficult for our group to eat together. The fish tacos were delicious. However, there were a concerning number of bees and yellow jackets around the outdoor tables and where we placed our dirty dishes, which made outdoor dining uncomfortable. We understand that some of this cannot be avoided, but it would help to reduce the issue if the trash and dirty dishes were cleared more frequently from the outdoor dining area and if there were fans to deter the pests.

I took a day trip just for the food and I was not disappointed. The Shrimp and Grits and Succotash were both outstanding! The restaurant also had a large selection of unique items for sale, and we ended up buying some things, including some t-shirts made from North Carolina cotton. After that, we headed to Cup 22 for coffee and dessert. It was a pleasant day overall.

I had a delicious breakfast at 8:00 am this morning. The breakfast burrito with bacon was fantastic, and my friend enjoyed a veggie omelette. The restaurant also offers a variety of unique products from local farmers. I highly recommend trying the Saxapahaw coffee if you haven't already.

This little piece of heaven is delightful and offers the best burgers and beers. After kayaking two plus hours on the Haw River, we needed food. Luckily Saxapahaw General Store was nearby and opened. Pulling into the parking lot, we saw majority of the outdoor seating occupied which is always a good sign. Walking in, we were treated to a quaint country store offering homemade goodies and fresh vegetables. It was bustling with shoppers, bikers, and day travelers all wanting some delicious food. As we perused the menu, we noticed the entire back wall were refrigerators containing local beers. While our orders of burgers and home fries were prepared, we explored the store but mostly the alcohol section. We mentally picked out what we wanted then found a table to wait for our food. When the burgers arrived they were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Served alongside were heaping portions of home fries fried to golden brown perfection. When visiting Saxapahaw, definitely make time to have a meal at the General Store. You won?t regret it.
