Cafe 3 Eight Nine - Scarborough

Went for breakfast sunday morning with a bunch of friends. Some of us order 5 minutes before the others and then the rest of us ordered. The first few of us that orrdered first got their meals very quickly. The rest of us sat their for 30 minutes before we got up to see where our food was. None of the staff could find our order, 10 minutes later our order was taken again. We waited, someone else came to double check our orders. 3 out of 4 of us got our correct meals soon after they were taken twice since we questioned where the food was. The forth meal was then clarified once again and 10 minutes later it came out. The staff told us it was a communication error with the printer, but our table was the only table that didnt recieve our meals. More than just a printer error? I think they just lost our whole order!!

Went here for breakfast 3 mornings in a row and the food was so nice. Only on the last morning was my egg not runny and was dry which was a bummer as every other morning the food & coffee was spot on. My son said the spaghetti on toast was delish mum!

Walking with the grandkids (4 & 2) so stopped for a morning coffee & a cake. Coffee was great as was the cake and the kids babycinos. Service was also good and staff very friendly but not over the top. Because it was so good we went back for lunch and was not dissapointed. Kids had the "kidspizza" & chips and also chicken nuggets & chips. My wife and I shared a steak sandwich and chips. Best steak sandwich I have ever had and in my 68 years I have had a few. Chips were also very good and cooked to just about perfection. Portions were more than adequate and we had a quite a few chips left over which the seagulls enjoyed later that afternoon. We will definatley return though next time it will be to try their great looking breakfast menu. We were in Noumea last month for a week and Cafe 3 eightnine would leave all the (French) resturants and cafe's we ate in in the dust. Kudos to trainee waiter Colin, a great asset the the business. Apart form being very nice to everybody he was great with the kids.

With one family member having eaten here before, we were all brought along as soon as possible to try the awesome breakfasts. Bird's Nests all round- and all round impressed with the combination of fresh ingredients and complimentary flavours. Portion sizes were generous but not excessive, with plenty of avocado(!) and perfect poached eggs! Family were satisfied with coffees. Staff were warm and friendly and clearly cared about the work they were doing. Living in the area, we will gladly be back!
