Cala Scottsdale

My wife, daughter (9 months) and I visited Cala the other day and unfortunately were incredibly disappointed and truly have never felt more unwelcome at a restaurant ever. Warning to all that this is not a family friendly restaurant, do not waste your time if you have kids. We got seated and sat unattended for probably 20 minutes while other customers who were seated after us, were served (in the exact same section). I’m not entirely sure if they simply did not want a baby at the restaurant or what the deal was but it certainly seemed to be the case. When I say we weren’t served we weren’t even brought water while the server walked by multiple times. Eventually we got up and left as quite frankly this is not the establishment that we would want to support. The best part was as soon as we left our cutlery was cleared almost immediately again leaving us to believe they simply did not want a family dining here. Our daughter is only 9 months but is very well behaved and I don’t believe even made a peep the entire time. I would rather a restaurant be honest and up front, if it’s not a family friendly restaurant be upfront and don’t waste either of our time.

BE AWARE! When you call to make a reservation, they send u a text, requiring a credit card for lunch for 2 people! If you don’t cancel more than 24 hours before reservation they will charge you $25.00! Also the Reservations on OpenTable do not work!

Lexie was our server and she was amazing. Very helpful and gave great recommendations. Food was great and the overall expierence was cozy and beautiful. They also had good dietary restricition options!

Food was mid at best, but the service and atmosphere was fantastic. Brandon was upbeat, attentive and friendly. Servers noticed all the details. When my candle went out someone lit it. My water was always full and someone always noticed when I needed utensils for the next dish. The new fashioned drink was a pleasant surprise as I’m a fan of the old/older fashioned drink. Overall Cala is a fun and energetic place. For a good time bring friends, order pizza and enjoy one of their many delicious cocktails.

Overall loved my experience! The hummus and salmon were delicious. I had an espresso martini that was to die for! Brandon, my server, was so nice and gave the best recommendations. I only had two drawbacks, 1) the music was a bit too loud (I did sit right next to the bar by the speaker which could easily be why) and 2) I also really enjoyed the lemon cake dessert but would recommend they tone down the lavender flavor ice cream or replace with a vanilla bean instead.
