Godny Cafe - Seoul

The financiers (salted caramel, ginger, black sesame creme) paired with tea and vegan vienese coffee (godny bianco) with oat milk were all delicious. The ginger and black sesame flavors stood out. However, the lack of English labels on the bakery items made it difficult to navigate. It's also unclear if the staff is able to speak English. The tables and chairs are cramped and not very comfortable.

Upon entering the restaurant, we noticed that the staff (which seemed to be excessive for a small cafe, as there were four of them) were staring at us and laughing amongst themselves, which made us feel uncomfortable. Moreover, they were unable to communicate in English and could not describe the flavors of the cakes to us. Despite this, the cakes, although expensive, were tasty. Overall, I do not plan on returning to this establishment.

The dessert menu at this restaurant is not as extensive as I anticipated based on Instagram, but the options they do have are delicious. The only disappointing item I tried was the truffle flavored financier, but everything else was excellent. The restaurant is conveniently located near a bicycle path and appears to be very popular. They stay open late and the staff is efficient. Although the space is not large, they have about 5-6 tables. The coffee is good, especially the signature cream latte, and they also offer decaf. Everything on the menu is vegan and there is no extra charge for soy. I will definitely be returning.
