Rathskeller - Shepherdstown

This is one of our favorite getaways. The chalet we stayed in had a luxurious whirlpool tub, a well-equipped bathroom with a folding door entrance, a double sink, a King Size four-poster bed, a gas fireplace, and even a small living room area. The balcony view was stunning, especially during dinner. The menu had changed since our last visit, but we found the crab cakes to be excellent. The Triple Sec cheesecake dessert was also incredibly delicious. The breakfast the following day was fantastic. We both agree that this place is definitely worth revisiting in the future.

I have dined at the Inn multiple times and despite living 1.5 hours away, it is definitely worth the trip. If you enjoy German cuisine, I highly suggest dining here. The staff has always been consistently friendly, welcoming, and polite during each visit, and the food is outstanding. This restaurant is suitable for all kinds of occasions, from a formal dinner to a casual Saturday night meal with friends. Overall, it offers a fantastic dining experience and has become a regular spot for me to enjoy fine culinary visits.

One of our favorite spots for a night out. The food is consistently delicious, with a diverse menu ranging from traditional German dishes to wild game and American favorites. The onion soup is especially noteworthy. The service is decent, but the atmosphere is a bit of a letdown. While you may anticipate an old-world charm when entering the historic building, the interior of the restaurant is quite modern and sterile. We had hoped for a more traditional ambiance, but were disappointed in that aspect.

After hearing the rooms that were dated, I was hesitant to stay, but we splurged for my birthday. I was very pleasantly surprised. Yes, the property is not brand new, but it has a certain charm. Our room was clean and without any dirty smells or anything. We loved the hot tub and enjoyed great water pressure. The small terrace balcony was great to sit at night and see the sun rising in the morning. I appreciate that the pool opens at 8 a.m., offers an opportunity to swim in the tranquility of the morning before it gets crowded. The grounds are well maintained and the reception was helpful and polite. I'll stay here again.

The Food and drinks are excellent! The service is very good. Our server Darla did a great job taking care of our table. The location is very nice. Only downside is the rooms are a bit old, outdated and not very clean. There was hair in the tub. There were some cob webs behind our bedroom door. The wall paper was peeling. Given the high cost of the rooms, the rooms definitely need to be renovated. I plan to come back for the food and atmosphere but not to stay.
