Cara Mia - Short Hills

I made a reservation at Cara Mia in Millburn, NJ, specifically requesting a table in front of the restaurant rather than one in the crowded tent across the street. The person on the phone assured me that it wouldn't be a problem. However, upon my arrival, I found that all five tables were occupied, and I was told I would have to sit under the tent instead. When I expressed my dislike for the tent, they attempted to borrow an umbrella from the neighboring restaurant but were unsuccessful. They ultimately said it was first come, first served, which was not mentioned during our phone conversation. I was left scrambling to find a restaurant at the last minute. This is an incredibly disappointing way to treat customers. It feels like they are desperate and will say anything to get you to sit in the crowded tent. Even when this virus situation is over, I won’t be returning, as I find them to be dishonest.

Carnonara is fantastic, and the veal chop special is outstanding too. The staff is exceptional!
