Once a great hotel but unfortunately now it’s dragged down but an unpleasant and sour staff in every part of the service chain. I’m normally a happy reviewer and take the course of “if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything.” Here I was compelled to share my experience because I was quite frankly blown away. I can honestly say that I’ve never experienced such vitriol in any business I’ve ever visited. Whoever is hiring for this place should be the first person to fire. I will post no pictures either because the only photo of merit would be the one of a nasty grimace displayed by any one of the cast of characters that are supposedly in the service industry. Truly remarkable. Go back to the way you were run in the 90’s. Old man Conrad is turning over in his grave.
The only reason I gave them a four star and not a five is the parking fee and the price of food and drinks. First off they are not located in a city where people could take advantage of it. The fee of $18 and the area where you have to park is kinda sketchy like some reviews said. The pool was really nice and the ambiance was great!
This hotel provides all types of amenities including a full set Fitness Center, an indoor pool and a hot tub. The staff is very professional accommodating. The rooms were clean. Checkout was very fast but they need to improve the time it takes to check-in. This is a nice Facility however, Breakfast is non-complimentary $30) and you have to pay for Parking $18), when you add everything up, it's a bit pricey.
If you are someone who has ever relied on the Short Hills Hilton for its pool, do not go back! This corporate office park hotel which should be coveting local guests who visit exclusively to use the pool on the weekends has gotten too big for his britches and has decided that it won’t let you use the pool until check in time at 4 p.m. We arrived at 1 p.m. with a carful of kids and senior citizens to check into our multiple rooms. We have been doing this multiple times per summer for years and are always able to get into the pool even if our rooms aren 't ready. Except this time the Hilton employees seemed almost excited to tell us that the hotel had changed its policy (without notifying guests) to state that only registered guests (with a room) could use the pool. Apparently their systems are no longer sophisticated enough to process people as registered without actually having access to their room. This is different from every other hotel and indoor waterpark that we have ever visited. On top of that, check in time was now 4 p.m. (later than standard) and they couldn 't guarantee anything would be ready before that. So long to one of the main weekend contingents who visit this hotel: Locals who want to use the pool. Meanwhile, in the hour that we stood in the lobby arguing with employees and dealing with our crying children not a single call was made to housekeeping to see if they could get us into a room soon. I counted two other parties in the lobby who were in a similar boat. It seems that in an hour, they could have given a priority cleaning to these few rooms to accommodate some paying guests on a hot day. When I mentioned this to a staff member, she said that she always just sort of waits to hear from housekeeping. It seems as though perhaps the conglomerate that is Hilton Hotels should revisit some of its processes and employee training. We were given no sympathy or support from the four different hotel managers and employees that we spoke with: Beryl B. Michelle P. Dotti Heather Luckily, we found a nearby Westin that was much more family friendly and customer focused, and we were able to get into the pool right away. We will definitely be back there! Meanwhile, if you want to start your weekend feeling defeated like you 've failed your children despite all of your advanced planning go have a pleasant conversation with the Short Hills Hilton staff. They will remind you what it feels like to think you’ve done everything right to provide a nice weekend for your family and instead have the rug pulled out from underneath you.
