Írjon visszajelzéstMy partner and I popped in as we fancied somewhere nice for lunch while we were visiting the outskirts of Shrewsbury. I saw the Battlefield recommend on Google so thought we would give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised by the decor and the amazing homemade cakes beautifully presented as you walk in. The lady on the door asked to seat us but as they were so busy the only available seat was by the door. She seemed concerned with us having this seat (we have a small baby) so she asks if she can seat us somewhere further in the restaurant, out of the door draught, once a table becomes available. We agreed and once one did, she kindly helped us carry our belongings over. We were delighted with the food, I had the steak and ale pie and my partner had the burger. Both of us really enjoyed our meals, they were full of flavour and made with quality ingredients. The waitress asked if she could get us any cakes but unfortunately I am having to go dairy free (baby has a cows milk allergy) I wasn’t able to have any of the fresh cakes. She could see that I was a bit disappointed so she asked if she could see if see if the farm shop had anything suitable which they did. I was really surprised with how helpful she was as she really went above and beyond to make sure we were catered for. Overall I highly recommend visiting and we will definitely be back when we are in the area! Thank you!
We visited for breakfast on a Saturday morning unfortunately we felt that it was a little expensive for an pretty average breakfast. Staff were friendly, and good gluten free options.
Good value and high quality. THANKS everyone concerned. The tables were well separated, staff masked but still managing to communicate well and support customers, tables cleaned each time a table was changed and the selection was great.
I went for breakfast at about 10am and decided to order the scrambled egg with bacon and it was amazing. The egg was creamy and orange (sign of a good egg). The bacon was thick and great quality pork. I was so impressed with how fresh it was I went to the farm shop and brought a pack of the bacon. 100% recommend
Our lunch at Sparrows was one of those happy accidents resulting from an un planned visit to the farm shop, but fore warned is fore armed so (at peak times) get your name on the list for a table first, and then browse the shop whilst waiting. But the wait is worthwhile. The standard menu is good, wholesome food prepared on site and don 't miss out on the daily specials. But you may have to wait a while for your order to arrive. And it is worth waiting for although standards can occasionally drop a bit when it gets very busy. My spiced, slow cooked lamb panini (although really tasty and well filled) was somewhat spoilt by three large chunks of inedible gristle. The Oh dear response from the waitress when I pointed this out to her was rather less than expected or appropriate,But it didn 't put us off trying to return a couple of weeks later. Unfortunately flooded roads made this impossible, but we will try again if we are back in the area. Prices are reasonable with wine (limited to a house red, white and rose) available at under £14 a bottle.
