El Metate - Signal Mountain

They treat us like family every time we come in and the food is just good Mexican food. Can't recommend enough, all the servers know us by name!

The food used to be better. Service did too, but you can't get that anywhere now. Grateful for anything up here though.

Service is better than the food. They love their cheese sauce which is ok but it seems like Velveeta cheese. The tortillas are the same ones you buy at the grocery store. It doesn't seem like they even heat them up. I'm used to Mexican restaurants that make their own. Lastly, the salsa is so mild and they charge for jalapeños. It's close to my house so I go.

If your under 23 and wanting a margarita or anything from the bar expect to be interrogated and asked for multiple forms of ID! We stopped in while visiting for the 127 Sale to get a nice cold beverage and dinner from our busy day. Only to be turned down because they don 't like to serve to younger people out of state . Food is typical Mexican food but comes out quick and hot. But not something to go out of your way for. We had the fajita barrito and pork tacos both are good portions and enough for left overs. Bar tender did comp our appetizer since the manager was being difficult for us. So this made us feel a little better but not his fault. All in all not bad but not something to rave about.

Best hanging out restaurant on the mountain. Always see friends catching food there also. One dad friend of mine says he could eat here every night. Their house margarita is good, and their food is fantastic. (I like the Malcahete, spelled wrong, but comes in a stone cup, great flavors!
