Just moved to Singapore and wanted to find a quiet place to relax on a weekday night. This place fit the requirements so we walked in, not knowing what to expect. Italian food, all right, but with an Asian flair! Loved the mats on the ceiling reminding you where you are and why you love exploring this amazing city with all it has to offer. Then there's the kind service with helpful suggestions wow! Really wonderful. For dinner I enjoyed the penne arabiatta spicy and flavorful, really perfect. Dining partner enjoyed the cheese filled ravioli and loved that as well. A good selection of wine available if you want some. I asked for a Negroni, a mixed drink made with gin, and gosh! the proportions were just like I make it for myself at home, complete with fresh orange slice garnish. Could not have asked for better. Dessert was the classic tiramisu, one portion shared not a big dessert, but just right to cap off the meal. And the espresso is the real deal, a tiny cup of concentrated coffee essence. Really a great place. Just note that on weekends or special holidays they do get busy so you may want to call ahead. Can't wait to return!
This is a lovely Italian restaurant located near the Stevens MRT station. The pizza here is quite good, priced between S$22 and S$28. The restaurant participates in the Entertainer discount for 2017 (for dine-in) and also offers home delivery through Deliveroo. I won’t hesitate to order a few pizzas next time we don’t feel like cooking at home. The service on-site was excellent, although the layout is a bit unusual, as the kitchen runs through the dining area, leaving a row of tables in a narrow corridor. The main dining area, however, is quite pleasant. As of February 2017, the outdoor patio seems to be closed.
Al Borgo is a charming little restaurant located within the Alocassia Apartments. I visited on a weekday evening and found it pleasantly quiet, making it ideal for conversation and a cozy date night. While there is outdoor seating available, I chose to sit inside since the noise from traffic along Bukit Timah Road could still be heard. The service was outstanding, and the food was both delicious and generously portioned. We tried the squid ink pasta, which was rich with seafood nestled in a flavorful black sauce. The calzone was decent, featuring a large, somewhat spongy crust filled with mushrooms and cheese, served with tomato sauce on the side. Overall, the prices are reasonable, the ambiance is lovely, and the food is good. I would definitely recommend this place for couples or groups of friends looking for a quieter venue to enjoy a meal and catch up.
The sauce for this seafood pasta wrapped in paper was simply delicious! It was full of flavor without any fishy taste. There was a generous amount of ingredients compared to the pasta, but it left me satisfied without feeling overly full, which I appreciate in hindsight. As someone who isn’t a huge fan of spaghetti, I think I’d try a different type of noodle next time. **Bismarck ($23) - 4 Stars** The flavors of the pizza didn’t appeal to me as much; it seemed to have an overload of cheese, and the meats were mostly preserved. I was craving pasta, especially since I love the grilled salmon pizza at Peperoni, but my dining companion chose this one. The combination of ham, mushrooms, cheese, and egg is a classic that really can't go wrong! The crust wasn’t particularly thin, but overall, it was quite good. Plus, it was larger than the 12-inch pizzas at Peperoni—huge! Thanks to the Entertainer app, we only paid $34 after GST and service charges. The bread served at the beginning was toasted with a soft inside, but I definitely prefer fresh bread. The ambiance of the restaurant was charming, making it a great spot for a date.
