Hotel du Rhone's Ba-Chi-Bou restaurant is well-known for its three kinds of fondue: Bachus, Chinese or Bourguignone. Each fondue comes with a choice of up to three kinds of meat (beef, turkey, ham or kangaroo). There is a sizeable condiment buffet bar from which to choose items to go with your self-cooked meats, but most items were uninspiring. Although we were seated quickly enough, wait staff was very slow to take our orders. We would have loved to sit outside in the large patio eating area, but it was full of smokers... The eatery seemed very popular with locals ordering fondue, so when our waiter finally came around, I ordered the Beef Bourgignone...or so I thought. My wife had the Forestiere: Vol au Vent aux Champignons (puff pastry with mushrooms in sauce). Both our meals.came with salads as appetizers...but someone drowned the vegetables in dressing. I reached for a piece of bread from the accompanying basket...and found the top slice was completely dry and stale. Despite all the glitches, our mains were very good. My beef fondue came with a huge plate of thinly sliced tender beef to cook in broth ... that strangely contained pieces of cooked wood lichen...uh...I had received the Chinese fondue instead of what I had ordered. Since we had waited so long already, I ate what was brought, and both my wife and I found our mains to be quite delicious. After finishing our mains, we again couldn't get our wait staff's attention for so long that we decided to forego dessert, which looked pretty good from what we could see at the next table. This restaurant has good food, it just needs its wait staff to pick up the slack.

A great restaurant with good price. The specialities of the restaurant is ba-chi-bou! So it is Fondue Bacchus, Fondue Chinoise or Fondue Bourguignone. Fondue Bacchus and Chinoise is with bouillon so you have to put your meat in bouillon and enjoy it with a lot of differents sauce and french fries. The Fondue Bourguignone is the same but you put your meat inside oil... Enjoy your meal

There was no hot food like eggs for breakfast. There are things to eat and fill up, but they are not impressive. I liked that there was a bathtub in the room. Lying in hot water is good for working tiredness. A clean and beautiful hotel. I advise.

Price-performance unbeatable in Sion. Had a huge room and there is an extra bicycle cellar. Very helpful and friendly staff at reception and also in the restaurant.
