It seems like all the food is prepared ahead of time, similar to a sandwich shop, and is heated up and served quickly at the counter before you sit down. The food was delicious and fresh. The vegan tzatziki sauce was especially good, and the fermented eggplant had a nice spiced flavor. The owner cautioned me that it was spicy, but I personally found it to be mild to moderately spicy and very tasty. I particularly enjoyed the tabbouleh, which was full of parsley.
The food was decent, and it was a welcome change to have several options available in an area that didn't cater much to vegans. The service was a little disorganized, and it seemed like they weren't prepared for the lunch rush. The food was adequate, but it didn't impress me.
I have known Sanaa since I was a child and have many of her cookbooks. She is the best! Her restaurant is mostly vegan, and all of the vegan dishes are fantastic. Make sure to try the kibbeh!
We had the vegan pies not sure the name). But they were delicious. Not enough food though so would need to get something else to go with it. They are 5.95 each and to make it a meal includes two sides) would be 10.00. So definitely should get that option if hungry.
Being my first time eating Middle Eastern, I'll tell you its like Indian food without the heat. I'm not sure if I did it right with the breads and condiments but everything in the buffet was so incredibly good I had to pile up a second plate. Updated from previous review on Saturday May 16, 2015
