Texas 1809 - Slaton

The food was amazing, and the staff was very sweet and friendly.

Food is fantastic... chicken fry, fried catfish, jalapeño poppers are some of my favs. The banana pudding is to die for and they always have specialty drinks. It's family friendly and the patio in the summer is fun.

Reviews weren't lying when they say these are the best burgers. We almost went to another local diner while stopping through slaton but saw they allow smoking inside and smells like it too (ew). Glad we went here instead because it's worth every penny. The food is great and so was the service. We know where we will be going when we need to come through again!Kid-friendliness: The girls serving were super sweet to my kids. We felt welcome.

Over price for the food. Steak was dry and over cooked. Will not go

I've gone here 3x now on recommendations saying the food is great. We had fried pickles in which it was more fried batter and over cooked. The chicken fried steak was the same. The Ruben was okay, but not great either. The fryer grease definitely needed changing. The previous time I had mahi mahi which they did not know how to cook and was very fishy flavored. I'll probably continue to go here and be disappointed because it is one of the few places I Slaton to dine in.
