Characters Irish Pub - Sloatsburgh NY

Friendly atmosphere, very good food. A little loud, but it's a pub/restaurant. The French onion soup was excellent. I had the Shepherds Pie, comfort food best. Another had the seafood paella, said it was fresh and tasty. Many parking spaces (Tues), we arrived at 5 when we left the restaurant was full. If you are from NYC or NJ and spend the day shopping in Woodbury Commons, drive 17 instead of coming to Harriman street, and characters are on the left in the city of Sloatsburg. You can turn the Thruway a little further south, easy on. It would be a relaxing stop on the way home.

Everyone here is so friendly and welcoming. It?s so refreshing to walk in and feel the warmth from the owner, staff and customers. The food is good and reasonably priced. The bartenders make fantastic drinks as well. Never a bad experience. Our neighborhood go to spot !

I had the chicken parmigiana. It was okay. The coconut shrimp were good. Our friends enjoyed their meals. They have outdoor dining.
