Dairy Queen Grill Chill - Smithfield

I have gone here many times over 20 years. It is in a convenient location at the Smithfield outlet mall. Good, dependable Dairy Queen food. The Blizzards will keep you coming back.

We picked up three Blizzards here after my daughter received a gift card from school, and I remembered why I don’t usually visit Dairy Queen. The place was dirty, and the Oreos in our Blizzards were stale, making the ice cream too soupy and unappealing in texture. Additionally, I noticed that some employees weren't wearing gloves and were touching their faces and necks, which was concerning. We're from the West, where Dairy Queen is one of the better fast food options and justifies its higher prices. Unfortunately, that is not the case here.

The restaurant was really unpleasant. There was trash scattered on the floor and tables. However, Mario was very friendly while taking our order. One staff member was eating while preparing food, and another employee rolled his eyes and exclaimed, "This is BS," when customers entered. We arrived at 5:40, and they were already telling people that the kitchen was closed. They informed all customers that they closed at 6 and insisted that we needed to leave by then.

I visited this restaurant for lunch and was quite disappointed with the customer service and overall professionalism. Staff members from the back were wandering around in the front while guests were trying to place their orders, which was distracting. I've never encountered a food establishment that allows open-toed shoes in the kitchen; while I understand they don't use their feet to cook, it was unsettling to see them come to the front to flirt with the cashiers while we were ordering. It just reflected a lack of professionalism. Additionally, there were two cashiers, but one of them seemed unable to assist with anything other than scrolling through her phone throughout our entire visit.

Was starving....so it hit the spot. If I wasn't starving I would whine that the chili dog tasted like it had been sitting around for hours waiting for me. I also ordered a carmel sundae. Small. It was good, just smaller than I thought. That was my fault.The workers there were super nice though.
