Traveling between Albuquerque and Las Cruces, we decided to stop for lunch in Socorro, at Don Juan's Cocina. The staff was very helpful and kind, and the food was homemade and of high quality. It wasn't necessarily the absolute best Mexican food that I have had anywhere, but the freshness of the food and the ingredients really shined through. The friendliness of the staff was appreciated genuinely checking-in to be helpful. This restaurant seemed like a spot that locals/residents enjoyed, as there was a steady stream of them. In our group, we tried the burritos and tamales, and the dishes we had were very good. Everything was affordable and reasonably priced. We would not hesitate in eating here again, the next time we are in the area.
Yummy homemade beans and rice!!! Not canned beans or instant boxed rice. So delicious!
These are the best tacos I had since the move to socorro!
I had the ground beef tacos. The meat was greassy, just enough to soften the bottom of the hard shell.
