American Classic Cafe - Spencer

Had the Country Skillet, was very good. Had Rye toast, which is getting harder to find. A reasonably priced place to eat.

Before diving into the main review, a quick note: American Classics accepts credit cards, which is worth mentioning since many restaurants in Spencer only take cash or check. True to its name, American Classics is a classic American diner. The service is quick and friendly, and the food is outstanding in the American style. I visited for breakfast and had what might be the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever tasted. The breading was crispy, and the sausage gravy was rich and full of flavor. If you’re in search of a fantastic greasy spoon with plenty of small-town charm, American Classics is the place to be.

This is my all time favorite place to dine. Food is always good, staff is friendly and very attentive. I highly recommend American Classic. They are in desperate need of help so if your looking for work here is the place to go. Recently had lunch here and want to comment about a NEW item on their menu. Chicken Strips! These are the best chicken strips in Northwest Iowa. When you go there to eat... Give them a try!
