The Kookaburra Downtown - St. Augustine

For a local coffee shop chain, Kookaburra has figured out how to do things right and give the big chains a run for their money. The coffee is fresh and they have a great variety of drink options. Their baked goods are good too, especially the Aussie Pies. For those of you unfamiliar with Aussie Pies, like I was, they are small individual sized pot pie style baked goods. In the morning they call them Brekkies and they are similar to a quiche but with a top crust too. Theyhave several flavors to choose from, but be sure to get there early or order ahead because they are baked fresh daily and they sell out fast. The same is true of their lunch pies, which on this trip we unfortunately missed out on because wedidn't get there before they sold out. No worries though, because we will definitely be back.

Coffee and pies are good enough to keep us coming back. The service quality is fine. But one of the girls that makes the coffee always seems like she doesn't want to be there.

When I came from NY I was looking for a good coffee place. After some debating finally stopped in here. Glad I did because never knew how good some of their coffee is. I have had the Honey Badger iced many, many times and they have never disappointed me. This location in particular is very quick and the staff is usually friendly. Thank you Kook' for keeping me caffeinated on those rough days. Recommend this place highly.

Great coffee! (Try the honey badger) and the aussie pies are a great twist on conventional breakfast.
