Sun Sushi - St. John's

Had a fast, delicious lunch. Very friendly and knowledgeable server. Able to change California roll to Unagi and Avocado (at server reccomend, was going to have a deluxe Unagi roll but server said U and A was cheaper and almost exactly the same). Nigiri was good quality fish and sushi rice, Overall very satisfied with this choice!

The food is delicious!!! We go there very often! Very good place with very friendly staff! 5 STARS!!!

First time here based on recommendation for some low cost sushi that decent. Tried the spicy broccoli based on a trip advisor review, it was very yummy. Had a couple other standard sushi rolls, complimentary miso? soup, "pot stickers" and spring rolls. Fast and attentive service. I will return.

I eat at Sun Sushi not often, but regularly. I enjoy the restaurant and the food, and I find the service to be adequate most times. There was one night when I had really bad service, but for the most part it's been o.k. Today though, the service was so much over the top it started to go down the other side. It was around 5pm, there were a few other tables but it was not busy. I was seated and given a menu. While I was deciding what to order I was given a bowl of miso soup and I asked for some water which was promptly brought over. I finished deciding, folded my menu, and it was only a moment before a server came to take my order. I was enjoying my soup, when I was only half way through my soup a server came over and asked me if I was done with it. I said no, thank you, I'm still enjoying it. I finished the soup and my order was brought out. While I was eating, 3 different servers came by to ask if everything was o.k. It was, but I thought that 3 different people checking on my meal was a bit excessive. I was eating the last piece of a sushi roll, I had no sooner put the last piece in my mouth when one of the servers came and whisked the plate away from me and asked if I was done, I couldn't really answer since my mouth was full of sushi, so I just nodded and she said anything else? I nodded no, she said "so just the bill?" I nodded yes. By this time I had managed to hurriedly chew and swallow my last piece of sushi so I could talk but she was gone off to get my bill. It was brought over and I was told "No rush, whenever you're ready you can pay at the till." Well, thank you very much, but if there was no rush, was it really necessary to make me choke down my last bite of my meal in order to try and talk? Could someone not observe that I had a mouthful of food and wait a moment or two for me to finish eating and then some over and take my plate away and ask if I would like anything else instead of swooping in like a vulture as soon as the last piece of food was off the plate en route to my mouth? I have been in restaurants with all tables full and a list of names waiting to be seated and not been rushed out as I was today. I left and went over to a coffee place to sit and have a beverage and digest my food without being hounded. I have read a lot of reviews written by people who have experienced poor service at this restaurant but today was too much in the other direction. There is a happy medium between not enough service and hovering servers and I think Sun Sushi is still struggling to find it.
