Cantina Mexicana Grill - Stamford

I can't believe we didn't know about this place! we tried others in the opposite, and this is the best for traditional Mexican food without doubt. the salsa is on the spicy side, so be prepared for it, but the eating overall was excellent and the service was good. we're coming back.

After living in Stamford for almost 8 years we decided to try Cantina Mexicana and have kicked ourselves in disbelief for not having tried it years ago. We’ve tried all the trendy Mexican places in town but never again. This is our place now. Authentic Mexican good, incredibly friendly service, happy surroundings—lovely but not too loud like most of them. The best and freshest guacamole anywhere. We go to Mexico every winter, so we know Mexican food, and this is as good as anyplace there.

I’m so disappointed in Cantina. We were looking forward to authentic Mexican, but the service was horrible. We had to ask for water after waiting 15 min at the table. We were not allowed to order off the happy hour menu because we weren’t at the bar (it was the first page of the menu we were handed- And did not say “bar only” anywhere! The icing on the cake was that we were handed a bill, gave our card, and when the bill was returned it was EDITED to be a HIGHER BILL without anyone saying ANYTHING. When we asked they said “oh sorry we forgot to charge you for a drink”. But.... you didn’t say anything? Just tried to pull wool over our eyes as if we wouldn’t notice the price change? We will never return.

Loved this restaurant. The ambiance was great, loved the Mexican decor, music and food was good and the piña coladas are served in real pineapples

Great atmosphere and Outstanding Food! I will return!
