When I inquired with the hostess about padded chairs for my elderly mother, he responded with a joke about selling stuffed animals. Seriously?
I'll start with the positives, as I prefer not to give negative reviews. The service was excellent. However, I must admit that I haven't visited a Cracker Barrel in a few years, and I was shocked at how much the quality has declined. The portion sizes were incredibly small. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, which included three of the tiniest, blandest biscuits I've ever encountered. Honestly, I could have gone to McDonald's, paid half the price, and received biscuits three times the size. My wife ordered the chicken French toast, which seems to now be made with regular sandwich bread, and it came with two incredibly thin, overcooked pieces of fried chicken that were more rubbery than anything else. It seems like the days of fluffy deliciousness are gone. Overall, I would compare the food quality to that of a Waffle House, but with even smaller portions. I won't be returning. Save your money, everyone; it seems Cracker Barrel is heading towards a decline.
Our waitress also seemed indifferent at first, making us feel like we were not valued customers. However, as we remained polite, she eventually warmed up, smiled, and came back several times to check on us, which was nice. By the time we were leaving, we were happy to see a genuine smile on her face. The food, on the other hand, was excellent—hot, plentiful, and flavorful. Unfortunately, the silverware was dirty, which detracted from the overall experience. I've visited this restaurant a few times over the past couple of months, and it hasn't met my expectations for Cracker Barrel. I believe the staff could benefit from some retraining in customer service and interaction; after all, we expect a pleasant dining experience, especially given the prices and the tips we provide. If I wanted a lackluster experience, I could easily choose fast food. While I understand that COVID may have created challenges, I noticed plenty of staff available, and I saw other tables receiving excellent service from an experienced waitress. I may consider giving this Cracker Barrel one more chance, but if the negative attitudes persist, I will find another option and advise my friends to do the same. My disappointment runs deep, especially since I have over 40 years of experience as a waitress and hostess in various restaurants. This is truly frustrating for me as a customer.
Everytime I’ve come here there is an issue whether it’s my wait staff or to go orders. Last time I went took 20 min to get syrup for pancakes that were then cold as well as the rest of our order. Today, 2 BLT chicken sandwiches ordered. No bacon, no honey glaze on it which we requested extra of… can’t blame short wait staff for them not to get a bacon lettuce tomato chicken sandwich correct. Thanks for ruining the lunch coworkers and myself really appreciate it!
Sad, worst cracker barrel experience ever. Service was very slow, and our food was cold when we got it. We had three children with us and after waiting a good amount of time did not want to wait to get the food hot. I asked to see the manager, and he graciously discounted our bill. We do understand that everyone is short-staffed right now, but we could have been given a heads up. As well as been served hot food. There is nothing on the breakfast menu that I choose to eat cold. Particularly eggs.
