Jamaica Jerk Joint - Stockbridge

I live in the neighborhood and decided to give this restaurant a try on a whim. When it comes to Jamaican cuisine, you have to tread carefully, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Ruck Chicken. The meat was incredibly tender, falling off the bone and bursting with flavor. They served a generous portion of rice and peas—perhaps a bit too generous for one person. The plantains were cooked to perfection, while the cabbage was a bit lacking. Overall, I’m willing to give it another shot, especially to try the curry options. As for the décor, the place is definitely lacking in that department, but the best restaurants often have that homey, hole-in-the-wall vibe.

The food is hot and delicious, and I would give it 5 stars, but there were a few issues. They were out of Curry Goat, the restroom was not clean, and I saw a very large bug scurrying behind the counter—definitely not a part of the kitchen staff! Despite these setbacks, I still chose to eat there.

The food was incredible! The owner was very kind. I had the brown stew chicken with cabbage, and it was absolutely delicious for just $10. I ended up enjoying it for two days! I can't wait to come back soon.
