Flannel - STOWE

I am beyond disappointed. Our holiday meal was a complete letdown. We opted for the four-course prix fixe menu, which was $125 for adults and $65 for kids. Unless they’ve changed the chef, I recommend not wasting your money here.

It was so disappointing. We arrived on time for our reservation, yet had to wait an additional 20 minutes to be seated. The same snooty family was also waiting to be seated, and the hostess told us to wait outside while they cleared our table. We ended up standing in a hallway with no seating, trying to remain patient. Moments later, they seated the other family at the table that was supposed to be ours, only to ask them to move to the bar. It all felt so unprofessional. Eventually, we were sat at the worst table in the restaurant—just a folding table crammed into a corner due to their overbooking. Eating our Christmas Eve dinner at a folding table was far from ideal. In the end, we left and dined downstairs, which was great, but it wasn’t what we had originally planned. I understand that there can be issues on Christmas Eve, but this experience was unacceptable. The waitress and the hostess both appeared overwhelmed. Overall, I would rate this experience a 0/10—so disappointing.

The food here is beautifully prepared using fresh ingredients. The arugula and berry salad was the least impressive dish, but the striped bass was incredibly fresh, well-cooked, and delicious. While some of the plating felt somewhat outdated, the overall quality of the food was excellent. Our server was professional and unobtrusive, although not particularly warm or friendly. The restaurant features windows that provide a view of the open kitchen, and there's also a nice bar area. The atmosphere struck a good balance—not too loud, yet not dull—allowing for easy conversation. However, a smaller table for two would have been more suitable for a more intimate dining experience, as the current setup felt a bit too distant. Keep in mind that this place is on the expensive side. I'm interested in trying other restaurants in Stowe for comparison.

Nice atmosphere, but the food and service were not great when compared with other cheaper options in the area.

This place is amazing! While it was a little tricky to find the entrance (go to the pathway left of the spa entry) once we did find our way we were quite pleased! Service was super friendly and fast. We were checked on often but not in an overbearing way. The food is absolutely superb. We ordered the Tuna Poke, Steak Frittes, Saffron Risotto, and for dessert the Pudding Chomeur. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. We?ll be coming back here again for sure!
