Chavez Supermarket - Sunnyvale

The prices are outrageously high for a small iceberg salad. I won't be returning to this restaurant. Make sure to check the prices before you order anything, as you might be in for a shock when you see the bill later.

I went in to get some tacos and was completely ignored for 10 minutes. There was no line, yet the staff kept going back and forth, even speaking with a manager, without saying anything like “I’ll be with you in a moment.” I couldn't shake the feeling that my skin tone was a factor. A few weeks later, I ordered a pound of carnitas, but when I went to pay, it turned out to be about a pound and a half. Clearly, math isn't their strong suit. I will never go back to this restaurant again.

I enjoy shopping at markets that offer high-quality ingredients and delicious, hot food. I recently visited the one in Redwood City, although I've never been to the one in Sunnyvale. The Redwood City location is quite small, and the parking situation is limited, but the supermarket has a great selection of products. There were six cash registers, but only one was open at 2:30 in the afternoon on a busy street. I bought a burrito from the back and wanted to purchase a drink as well, but I was not allowed to do so. It didn’t make much sense to me.

I love the products in Chavez. If you don't find a mature avocado anywhere else, you'll find one. BURRITO BAR IN TOWN. Different things as you would find in Safeway, but that's why you're going there. It's like in a grocery store in Mexico. All employees are bilingual. Chavez is fun.

Always packed inside esp on weekends. They have a kitchen in the back for take out, smells great all the time. So far have only ordered the menudo (only available on weekends).....Definitely worth it and don't get there after 12p for it b'cuz there won't be any left. They sell out so fast or they dont make enuf, not sure which. They have a good selection of meat chicken and some fish, but we don't buy our seafood there. They also have some cold cuts and we get headcheese there every year, so few places sell it anymore. Nice neighborhood grocery store friendly staff, tight parking, great little takeout kitchen; keep it going!
