Madame Nhu Surry Hills

Not sure what kind of pho they served, but it did not taste like the authentic old style pho I am used to eating. So I guess I didn't get my comfort food.

Well, the pho had a really delicious rich suppe. Apart from that, everything was pretty poor. the flesh had been destroyed. the bark in the pho was very hard while the crispy chicken had a crispy skin, but was quite hard and tasteless chicken inside....The prices look a little higher than Vietnamese places elsewhere, but the servings at madame nhu are much smaller, so they really pay much more here. in particular there was hardly bark meat in the pho and less than a breast that is worth the hull in this dish (three times more rice than huh)

We recommend this Vietnamese restaurant. we visited the surry hills filiale. beautiful staff and delicious food. many vegetarian options. papaya salat is a winner!

Had eaten here before and enjoyed the experience so we booked a table a week in advance. When we arrived the waitress kept asking if we were sure that we had a booking..I showed the booking confirmation and she scurried away to shout something at...her manager before just saying ok . We ordered the same things as last time but found they were just ok . Not a single smile from the waitress who didn 't look like she wanted to be there and had poor knowledge of the menu....with so many better vietnamese options around, service can make the difference. We won 't be going back.

Spontaneous family outing on a Saturday night led us here with no booking. Lucky to find a table as the restaurant was packed. Two of our members had dietary issues and had difficulty getting answers from staff because of language issues but were eventually able...to choose suitable dishes. Duck rice paper rolls were delicious as was the satay sticks. Mains including tofu, chicken and beef dishes were all delicious and good value. Usual beers and drinks menu available. All were very happy with the meal and would be happy for a return visit.
