Helm Bar - Sydney

We came to helm bar for some farewell drinks, though I wasn't too sure of what to expect here considering the number of mixed reviews I had received before. We ordered drinks and food here, and though I thought the service was a bit slow to start with, they were patient (considering we had such a big order!) and friendly too. The pizza here isn't too big, and is quite tasty. I love that they weren't stingy with the toppings! We enjoyed their sweet potato fries, though I didn't like the thing fries they served (they were far too oily for my liking). The calamari was crunchy and tender, and well cooked, so no complaints there. The staff was friendly throughout the night, and returned to clear anything we were done with at regular intervals so we didn't end up piling things up. One of my favourite places to come for an after work drink in Darling Harbour. The food is consistently good quality and so is the service. A great spot for a work lunch with a view or a weekend get together with friends.

Good place and atmosphere. Food is reasonable. Would have expected the food to cost an arm and a leg given its proximity to tourist attractions - however it was one of the cheapest bars/pubs to go to, compared to other places around Darling Harbour.

Had my niece and nephew for the day and needed to expose them to life outside of the suburbs, or feed them to the sharks at the Sydney Aquarium - honestly I dont know but thank GOD for Helm Bar as it's right next door which I've  had the pleasure of frequenting for afterwork drinks as I work right in Pyrmont.    I've never been here during the day and this really cool space is surprisingly family friendly and geared with a lunch menu to match, so I left the kids to enjoy the water views and had a quick nip at the bar.   Reasonably priced, I opted not to go for the share plates and left the kiddies to feast on a Ham & Pineapple pizza.   The more sophisticated options were there of course, but I like how there are carefully chosen dishes in the choice for fussy eaters under 10 years old!   Perfect level of service that's not too intrusive, wait times were about 15 minutes and the place was somewhat busy!   It was nice to see a different side to this normally bustling nightlife harbour space!   All in all - great day!  Everyone was happy and I got to ship the kids back to their parents!
