Dark Horse Tavern - Syracuse

This is an excellent restaurant. If you’re in search of a menu with 50 different dinner options, you should probably head to your local chain restaurant. While the DH menu may be somewhat limited, the quality of the food is outstanding. The service is also fantastic. It ranks among our top three restaurants in Syracuse.

Whenever I see chicken riggies on a menu, I can't resist ordering it. The version at The Dark Horse is outstanding—one of the best I've ever tasted, even surpassing many of the top-rated Italian restaurants in Syracuse, Rome, and Utica. We arrived at 5:15 PM with another couple and were seated right away. Fortunately, we got there early, as they don't take reservations. Within half an hour, the dining room and bar became so loud that it was almost impossible for us to enjoy conversation with our friends. The restaurant really could benefit from some soundproofing tiles on the ceiling. The service was both efficient and friendly, although it seemed like the servers were stretched a bit thin with too many tables to manage. Overall, I’d give 5 stars for the food and service but only 2.5 stars for the ambience.

My partner and I had our monthly date at this lovely tavern, and it was a perfect 10/10 all around. Right away, the staff made us feel at home. I should mention that they got my order wrong, but honestly, the food was so delicious that I didn’t even notice. Well done!

Fantastic food and truly exceptional service makes Dark Horse stand out as a winner. The Caesar salad topped with salmon was delicious. The pub grub was awesome—so says my colleague. A great selection of beers both bottled and on tap. Win. Win. Win.
