The food was delicious as usual and the service excellent despite the restrictions placed on restaurants due to the pandemic. Our server was prompt, kind , and cheerful all while wearing a mask in order to be able to work in a public setting. We had meals of their wonderful chowder for me, coconut prawns for my sister, followed by coleslaw, fish chips for us both. Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. At the we ordered ice cream to take outside on the nearby dock. When we asked how much we owed for the ice cream our sweet server said no charge and congratulations to my sister on passing the NCLEX RN test. This kind of experience and delicious food is why we will always count Steamer's as the best seafood restaurant in our area!
My family loved this place! Great prices for pretty good seafood! This restaurant also has a nice view of the water and nearby park. If you like seafood, I highly recommend this for a casual bite to eat!
Overall I was happy with the establishment, it's a very simple fast food style restaurant with a nice eat in area. There is a nice outdoor seating area. The only downside of the site was the active train tracks. Arriving at the parking area was moderately confusing as it's across the train tracks for the facility. The signage for the parking area was not completely obvious. The upside of the small drive way for the site is that it gives you the chance to unload any mobility challenged close to the site and park. The view is absolutely wonderful and the food was priced at a good value.
Steamers has been a favorite restaurant of mine since I moved to UP in junior high back in the 90’s. The food is great and while the menu is occasionally updated, my old favorites remain. I have had a few birthday dinners there, taken more than a few out of town friends there (including one from Germany! , and stopped by on many a lazy afternoon for a good lunch. The location is great and the views can hardly be beat. Parking can be a pain, but you can usually find a spot somewhere in the area if you drive around for a few minutes. I love Steamers and have no doubt I’ll continue to stop by for as long as possible. EDIT: So sad to hear that Steamer 's is closing. So many memories here ranging from the mid-90s 'til now. Birthdays, high school friends, dates, warm summers on the patio. Broke my heart to read the restaurant is closing.
I've lived in this area way too long to have never been to Steamers. I finally got there though to find that I've been missing out all these years. I ordered the fish and chips. The breading was crispy and perfectly fried and the fish was fresh tasting and flaky. The fish and chips also come with a nice slaw. Also worth trying is their clam chowder nicely seasoned with generous chunks of clam meat. Adding to the great food is an amazing view of the Sound.
